Overview
Adult Length
5 – 8 cm body length (small to mid-sized)
Venom
Venomous; bite causes sharp localised pain and swelling. Far smaller than the giant Scolopendra so envenomation is less severe, but Otostigmus are fast and will bite — not medically significant for healthy adults, yet hands-off.

Broadly distributed from the Indian Ocean islands through South Asia to Taiwan, Vietnam and Hawaii, and present in Thailand alongside other Otostigmus. Humid forest floor — under bark, logs, stones and in leaf litter. 0 – 1,200 m.

Small insects and other litter arthropods. Nocturnal active hunter.
Captive Care
