8 – 12 cm body length (SE-Asian stock rarely exceeds 12 cm)
Venom
Medically significant but milder than the giant dehaani-group. A neurotoxic bite causes sharp pain, redness and localised swelling; systemic effects are uncommon in healthy adults. Still treat with respect — hands-off.
In the Wild
Habitat
Cosmopolitan and adaptable; in Thailand found in dry and open forest, scrub, grassland and gardens. Shelters under stones, bark, logs and ground debris. 0 – 1,000 m.
Wild Diet
Insects, spiders and other small arthropods; large adults take tiny vertebrates. Nocturnal active forager.

Temperature
24 – 30 °C ambient — 23 °C cool end
Humidity
60 – 75 %. Mostly drier substrate with one damp corner and a water dish; good airflow.
UV Requirements
None required (nocturnal).
Feeding
Crickets and roach nymphs. Every 5 – 7 days.
Enclosure
Terrestrial. 6 – 10 cm of substrate for burrowing, with bark/rock hides and a secure lid. Min 25 × 20 cm. Keep singly.
Temperament
Fast and nervous; quick to bite defensively. Display species only — do not handle.
