Venom
Non-venomous. A flat-backed (polydesmid) millipede that defends by oozing hydrogen cyanide and benzaldehyde (almond-scented) from lateral ozopores — can stain and irritate skin and eyes. Wash hands after handling; never rub eyes.

Lowland and hill evergreen forest floor in Thailand. Lives in deep leaf litter, under logs and in decaying wood. 0 – 1,000 m.

Feeding
Decaying hardwood leaf litter and rotten wood as staple; supplement with calcium (cuttlebone), vegetables and a little fish-flake protein. Replenish litter as eaten.

Terrestrial; 8 – 12 cm of moist hardwood-leaf and rotten-wood substrate with bark hides. Prolific and communal. Min 25 × 25 cm footprint.

Temperament
Docile and non-aggressive; curls up or releases defensive fluid when alarmed. Slow-moving. Handle minimally due to cyanide secretion.
