Venom
Old-World tarantula with no urticating hairs. Medically significant venom — bite causes strong local pain, swelling and cramping. Defensive; not a beginner species.

Habitat
Tropical lowland and hill forest of Thailand and adjacent Southeast Asia. Fossorial/opportunistic burrower under logs, roots and leaf litter. Iridescent blue-purple legs with bold dark zebra striping.

Insects and other arthropods. Nocturnal sit-and-wait predator at the burrow entrance.
