Adult Length
~3 – 4 cm body; ~7 – 9 cm legspan. Robust dark mygalomorph.
Venom
Macrothelid funnel-web — Old-World funnel-webs are medically significant. The venom is potent (neurotoxic in related species such as M. gigas) and bites can cause severe local pain and systemic symptoms. Treat with great respect; strictly hands-off.
In the Wild
Habitat
Humid forest floor and rock crevices in Thailand. Spins a sheet/funnel web from a silk retreat under logs, stones and earth banks, ambushing prey that lands on the sheet. 0 – 1,000 m.
Wild Diet
Ground and low-foliage arthropods — crickets, roaches, beetles and other insects — caught on the funnel sheet web.

24 – 28 °C ambient — 22 °C cool end
Humidity
75 – 90 %. Keep substrate moist and humidity high with steady ventilation.
UV Requirements
None required (nocturnal).
Feeding
Crickets and roaches. Adults every 7 – 10 days; slings every 4 – 5 days.
Enclosure
Fossorial/terrestrial — 8 – 12 cm of moist substrate with cork hides and anchor points for the funnel retreat; min 20 × 20 cm. Secure lid essential.
Temperament
Highly defensive and fast, with medically significant venom; will stand its ground. Expert keepers only — never handle.
