Terrestrial/fossorial. 8 – 12 cm of moist substrate (coir, rotten wood, leaf litter) over a 30 × 25 cm footprint, with cork-bark hides. Breeds readily and tolerates communal housing.

Docile, slow and secretive; coils when handled. Secretes staining quinones — wash hands afterwards.
