Overview
Adult Length
~12 – 15 cm legspan; body 23 – 37 mm (female), 19 – 27 mm (male). Lichen-mimic markings.
Venom
Sparassid huntsman — not medically significant; the large fangs can give a painful mechanical bite but no systemic danger.
In the Wild
Habitat
Rainforest of Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo and Java. A large arboreal nocturnal hunter that rests camouflaged against lichen-covered bark by day. 0 – 1,200 m.
Wild Diet
Active bark hunter of insects and other arthropods — moths, roaches and crickets — captured by speed rather than a web.
Captive Care
Temperature
25 – 29 °C ambient — 23 °C cool end
Humidity
75 – 85 %. Regular misting with good ventilation; keep bark surfaces humid and offer drinking droplets.
UV Requirements
None required (nocturnal).
Feeding
Crickets, roaches and moths. Adults every 7 – 10 days; slings every 4 – 5 days.
Enclosure
Arboreal — tall enclosure (30 cm+) with broad vertical cork-bark slabs for camouflage and crevices; shallow moist substrate. Keep singly.
Temperament
Exceptionally fast and skittish; relies on camouflage and flight, biting only if cornered. Experienced keepers only — not a handling species.

Origin
Not found in the wild in Thailand. Native range: Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei.
