Mild venom — sting comparable to a bee/wasp and medically minor. Relies on its long, heavy pincers for defence.
In the Wild
Habitat
Tropical rainforest floor across SE Asia, including peninsular Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines. Shelters under logs, rocks and leaf litter. 0 – 600 m.
Wild Diet
Insects, arthropods and occasional small vertebrates. Nocturnal ambush predator using its elongated pincers.

Temperature
26 – 30 °C ambient — 24 °C cool end
Humidity
75 – 85 %. Damp substrate and a shallow water dish.
UV Requirements
None required (nocturnal).
Feeding
Crickets, roaches and locusts. Every 7 – 10 days.
Enclosure
Terrestrial, 8 – 12 cm of moist substrate for burrowing, with cork-bark hides. Min 30 × 30 cm. Communal with care.
Temperament
Defensive pincer display but reluctant to sting; relatively calm. Not recommended for handling.
