Old-World venom — no urticating hairs. Medically significant: a bite delivers intense pain, swelling and muscle cramping. Defensive; treat with respect.
In the Wild
Habitat
Humid lowland forest and jungle clearings of Myanmar and adjacent western Thailand. A fossorial species that builds deep silk-lined burrows; famed for iridescent cobalt-blue legs. 0 – 600 m.
Wild Diet
Insects and other arthropods ambushed at the burrow entrance. Nocturnal sit-and-wait predator.

Temperature
26 – 30 °C ambient — 24 °C cool end
Humidity
75 – 85 %. Keep deep substrate moist with a drier surface; water dish and good ventilation. Colour shows best at higher humidity.
UV Requirements
None required (nocturnal).
Feeding
Crickets, roaches and locusts. Slings every 4 – 5 days; adults every 7 – 10 days.
Enclosure
Fossorial — 15 – 20 cm of packed moist substrate for deep burrows, plus a cork-bark starter hide. Min 25 × 25 cm footprint.
Temperament
Defensive, fast and reclusive — spends most of its life underground and will threat-pose or bite if disturbed. Hands-off display species.
