Venom
Old-World venom — no urticating hairs. A bite is medically significant: intense local pain, swelling and muscle cramping. Not known to be life-threatening but warrants caution.

Habitat
Lowland tropical forest and scrub of mainland Southeast Asia. A fossorial species that spends most of its life in a self-dug burrow. White leg striping and a zig-zag abdominal pattern. 0 – 600 m.

Wild Diet
Insects and other arthropods ambushed from the burrow mouth; large adults take the occasional small vertebrate. Nocturnal sit-and-wait predator.

70 – 80 %. Keep the lower substrate lightly moist with a drier surface; provide a water dish and good ventilation.

None required (nocturnal).

Crickets, roaches and locusts. Slings every 4 – 5 days; adults every 7 – 10 days.

Terrestrial/fossorial with 12 – 18 cm of packed moist substrate for deep burrows, plus a cork-bark starter hide. Min 25 × 25 cm footprint.

Temperament
Skittish, fast and defensive — quick to bolt or threat-pose. Strictly a hands-off display species.
