2 – 3 cm body (female); ~5 – 6 cm legspan. Males far smaller.

Mygalomorph with large fangs but mild, medically insignificant venom — a bite is mechanically painful rather than dangerous. No systemic effects reported.

Lowland forest and disturbed ground in Thailand. A fossorial atypid that lives in a silk-lined burrow rather than building an open web; the female ambushes prey from the burrow mouth. 0 – 600 m.

Ground-active insects — beetles, crickets, ants and other arthropods seized at the burrow entrance.

70 – 85 %. Keep deep substrate slightly moist throughout; allow the surface to dry between mistings.

None required (nocturnal / fossorial).

Crickets and small roaches. Adults every 7 – 10 days; slings every 4 – 5 days. Drop prey near the burrow mouth.

Fossorial — 10 – 15 cm of compactable moist substrate (soil/clay mix) for a deep burrow. Min 15 × 15 cm footprint. Leave undisturbed once established.

Secretive and reclusive; stays in its burrow and flees rather than threatens. Not a handling species — the heavy fangs can deliver a sharp mechanical bite.
