Venom
Hemotoxic / Fibrinolytic. Causes severe coagulopathy, haemorrhage & necrosis. One of the most medically important snakes in Thailand. Seek emergency treatment immediately.
In the Wild
Habitat
Terrestrial. Lowland forests, rubber and palm oil plantations, forest edges, agricultural land and roadsides, 0 – 500 m. Found throughout most of Thailand.
Wild Diet
Frogs, rodents & lizards. Terrestrial ambush predator — lies motionless in leaf litter.

Temperature
26 – 30 °C ambient — 24 °C cool end
Humidity
60 – 75 %. Light misting 2 – 3 times per week.
UV Requirements
Low to none (crepuscular / nocturnal). UVI 0 – 0.5.
Feeding
Pre-killed mice or rats. Adults every 10 – 14 days. Notoriously good feeder.
Enclosure
Terrestrial. Min 90 × 45 × 45 cm. Deep substrate (coco coir / bark) for burrowing; multiple hides.
Temperament
Highly defensive and fast-striking. Notoriously aggressive when disturbed. Always use a hook.
