Venom
Non-venomous. A flat-backed dragon millipede; defends with hydrogen cyanide and benzaldehyde (almond smell) from ozopores — can stain and irritate skin/eyes. The yellow-and-black banding is aposematic.
In the Wild
Habitat
Occurs all over Thailand in humid forest and forest-edge floor; periodically forms large swarms in the north. Lives in leaf litter, under logs and in rotten wood. 0 – 1,000 m.
Wild Diet
Detritivore — decaying leaf litter, rotting wood and fungi. Nocturnal forest-floor recycler.

Temperature
22 – 26 °C ambient — 21 °C cool end
Humidity
75 – 85 %. Keep substrate evenly moist with good airflow.
UV Requirements
None required (nocturnal).
Feeding
Decaying hardwood leaf litter and rotten wood as staple; supplement with cuttlebone calcium, fruit/veg and a little fish-flake protein.
Enclosure
Terrestrial; 8 – 12 cm of moist leaf-and-wood substrate with bark. Easy, communal and prolific. Min 25 × 25 cm.
Temperament
Docile and slow; coils and releases defensive fluid when alarmed. Handle minimally due to cyanide secretion.
