Venom
Rear-fanged — mildly toxic. Not dangerous to humans. Bites are rare and symptoms minor.
In the Wild
Habitat
Arboreal. Forest edges, gardens, plantations, hedgerows and suburban green spaces. 0 – 1,500 m. Extremely common throughout all of Thailand.
Wild Diet
Lizards (particularly agamids and skinks) and frogs. Diurnal visual hunter — uses binocular vision to track prey.

Temperature
26 – 30 °C ambient — 24 °C cool end
Humidity
60 – 75 %. Misting 3× per week.
UV Requirements
Moderate (diurnal). UVI 1.0 – 2.0. Low-level UVB recommended.
Feeding
Pre-killed lizards or geckos. Every 5 – 7 days. Transition to mice can be difficult.
Enclosure
Tall arboreal. Min 60 × 60 × 90 cm. Dense foliage, fine horizontal perches for grip.
Temperament
Alert and curious. Rarely bites; may gape displaying blue-black mouth interior as defence. Very popular display species.
